At the end of the day what do you like to do to relax your mind? I can lose myself and forget all the days activities by picking up a paintbrush. I was inspired by the twisting branches of old trees. Many of life’s patterns has passed them by. Here is a series of tree sketches starting in charcoal and then moving to Acrylics. I love the texture you can achieve with a palette knife for the rough bark. I have only hinted at the small wisping branches and leaves. The trunk is the stability and architecture of the tree but the leaves and small branches are left to chatter in the wind.
